After the 6543, Rolex introduced the 6541, which is where the Milgauss really came into its own: it kept the honeycomb dial, but also got a bezel design of its own, divided into six sections. According to Rolex ads, this bezel, "calibrated into sixty divisions, serves as a simple stopwatch or for timing different operations." Well, “extremely rare” is an euphemism, as the ref. 6541 Milgauss might be the rarest production watch ever made by Rolex. Easy to see why they regularly beat records on auction sales, and why they're so coveted by collectors now !Fitted with Rolex’s caliber 1066, its bridge features an engraved ‘M’ specific only to the Milgauss model and the bezel insert with its red triangle is calibrated correctly for 60 minutes. The present lot is a superb and a highly coveted reference that is confirmed by Rolex themselves. The Rolex Milgauss 6541 features the same iconic honeycomb dial as the 6543, but a slightly different rotatable bezel. It was still calibrated to 60 minutes, but the zeroes were omitted–so “1-2-3-4-5” appeared on the bezel instead of “10-20-30-40-50.”
